Growing vegetables year round is possible. In my area of Georgia (zone 7b) we can grow some leafy greens and root crops like carrots into the winter. We also have a covered area called a high tunnel that we grow crops in that protects against the cold in the winter and rain and dew that spread diseases in the summer. In this video I show you a behind the scenes look at our high tunnel on February 6, 2016 where we are growing Carrots, Spinach and Lettuce. We are also about to plant tomatoes to get an early start. Normal tomato planting time outside will not start until mid April.
Our Grandson Levi made a guest appearance in this video. We enjoy passing on the things we do on the farm to the next generation. Teaching kids where their food comes from and all the miracles of life that we sometimes take for granted like watching plants and animals grow on the farm.
Join us for a morning of fall fun on the farm! Take a tour of the dairy barn and ride the tractor hay ride around the pastures. Learn more about our raw milk, pastured eggs, and grass fed meats. Meet all the happy cows, chickens, and pigs that make it all possible, then try your hand at milking the cows! Enjoy fun fall crafts like pumpkin painting.
